András D. Hajdú was born in 1981, Budapest. He earned his MA degree in 2012 in English literature, writing his diploma thesis on American war photography. András is a multi-award winning photojournalist and multimedia creator. His primary interest has always been documentary photography. He has compiled and published a large number of photo series reflecting on the realities of life in Hungary and eastern Europe, several of which are multi-year projects. Over the past eight years he has worked as a part-time photo journalist for origo.hu, a leading online news portal in Hungary, and dedicated the rest of his time to projects that go beyond day-today photo journalism. He is one of the lecturers at the department of Photojournalism at Budapest College of Communication and Business.
Winner of the Pictures of the Year International (POYi) Feature Picture story, 19 times Hungarian Press Photo award winner including Photographer of the Year, best collection prize, grand prizes. Three times winner of József Pécsi scholarship (for talented young art photographers), Robert Bosch Stiftung scholarship, Honorka Hégető multimedia grand prize, Károly Hemző Prize etc.
